An additional 25 years imprisonment sentence imposed to the already life serving David Thabo Dube (49) who was found guilty and was sentenced by the Nelspruit Regional Court on Wednesday, 10 August 2022 for Armed Robbery( Cash In Transit Robbery) and two Attempted Murders.
According to Major General Zodwa Mokkoena (Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime), the sentence followed an incident which took place in the morning of 17 April 2000 at about 11:45 when the accused attacked a COIN Armed Van(AV) between Graskop and Bushbuckridge.
It is alleged that on the day in question, a group of heavy armed tough criminals accosted the AV, thundered it and managed to escape with closed to R1Million Rand cash.
“The case was handed over to the Hawks Nelspruit based Serious Organised Crime Investigation for further investigation and through finger prints, it was discovered that the accused was linked to the crime scene.
During profiling of the accused it was established that he was serving 25 years imprisonment for another Cash In Transit heist which took place in October 2017 at Klerksdorp.
The accused was requisitioned from Prison on 30 June 2022 and he appeared before the Graskop Magistrate Court,” said Major General Mokoena.
The convict was remanded in custody until of Wednesday, 10 August 2022 wherein the extra 25 years imprisonment was imposed.
Major General Mokoena applauded the determination and dedication of the Investigating team and Prosecution Authorities for Justice which is served for the community of the Republic.
In conclusion, she said ‘’As the Hawks we shall leave no stone unturned. We shall continue with the good relationship with the community to curve and uproot the thorns from the community. She concluded’’.
