Three suspects will appear before the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court today, 14 February 2022, facing the charges of House Robbery and Possession of suspected stolen properties
On Tuesday, 07 February 2022 a 45-year-old female suspect was arrested at a house in Mangosuthu village, Piet Retief.
The members, through their Intelligence led investigation, managed to recover a television set which was reportedly found in her possession.
On the same day (07 February 2022) the police further apprehended a 28-year-old male suspect at Amsterdam whilst enroute to Jericho dam.
The man was found in possession of a suspected stolen GWM bakkie.
0n Thursday, 09 February 2022 at around 00H30 am, the police also nabbed a 39-year-old male suspect at Edukwini in Fernie who was in possession of a suspected stolen White Mercedes Benz Sedan.
According to a statement made the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, preliminary investigations revealed that the tv set and the two vehicles were all stolen during a robbery which was reportedly carried out on 05 February 2022 at about 12h45 in Jacaranda Lane Kempville in Piet Retief.
“In that robbery, it is alleged that two male suspects stormed into a certain house where they robbed the victim of his belongings, threatening him with a knife.
During the said incident, the victim sustained injuries after being stabbed by the merciless suspects.
The suspects then robbed him of his white Mercedes Benz and his GWM bakkie as well as a television set before they fled the scene.
The suspects will appear before the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on Monday 14th February, 2022 facing the charges of House Robbery and Possession of suspected stolen properties”.
Lieutenant General Manamela has applaud members of the SAPS for their hardwork as well as the arrest and recovery of the two vehicles together with the television set.
“We will continue to squeeze the space for criminals and ensure that the province becomes uncomfortable for them until they repent” said the General.
