The Usizo Rehabilitation Centre together with Thunderbay Spur commemorated youth day with a motivational luncheon for recovering drug addicts at its rehabilitation centre at Stinkwater, Tshwane on 16 June 2022.

A total number of 160 Usizo rehabilitation centre recovering drug addicts were in attendance, and participated in a short play which they put together to demonstrate the extremes addicts go to, to support their bad habit.

Co-owner and Operational Manager of Thunderbay Spur at Jubilee Mall, Grace Mulaudzi, said Thunderbay Spur helped host the youth day celebration to show support to the rehab centre as her son has also been admitted there as well.

“Today is my birthday, I decided to come spend my day at Usizo rehab because my son is also admitted here.

I decided, whatever I will be doing today will be about them because we don’t want our children to lose hope on their road to recovery.

We as Spur also wanted to show appreciation to the owner of the rehab for his job well done.

The purpose of today’s function was to encourage the youth since it is youth day today, and let them know that we haven’t forgotten about them and we still have hope in them because they are the future leaders of our country,” said Mulaudzi.

Founder of Uziso Rehabilitation Centre, Isaac Legobosha said running the rehab isn’t an easy task especially because it’s a non-paying centre.

“My main aim for my patients is to help them recover from drug addiction, and I used to do everything for free but since I’ve lost my job I’ve pleaded with parents to contribute with buying food which is a R50 contribution per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We have a total number of 160 male patients and had 3 female patients who have recovered and have been discharged.

Today I’m so happy that Thunderbay Spur helped us to put together this joyous event for my kids, they need all the encouragement and support,” said Legobosha.

Legobosha said he would appreciate donations especially beds and food to keep his rehabilitation centre running.

“I along with other recovering drug addicts are here today to take part in the centre’s youth day celebrations that they are hosting for us.
