A warrant of arrest was issued against Sam Chabalala after he failed to appear in court on Friday, 6 March 2020.
The well known businessman was supposed to appear at Emalahleni Magistrate Court facing charges of corruption, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and contravening immigration act.
He was out on R200 000 bail which was granted last year September.
According to the Mpumalanga Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Spokesperson, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi the reason for his non appearance was not provided in court.

According to the information received by Seskhona Media, a case of attempted murder was opened at Bethal Police Station on Monday, 2 March 2020 after a shooting took place at Sam Chabalala‘s place of residence in the early hours of Monday.
Bethal Police Spokesperson, Const Thomas Mogadime confirmed the incident.
The information at police disposal indicates that an unknown person shot at the driver‘s side of the vehicle which was just parked inside the yard and the person who was driving was already inside the house when the shooting took place.
