A case of kidnapping and armed robbery was opened at the eMbalenhle Police Station.

This came after the complainant was walking to Ext 5 (esihlahleni) to catch the staff bus to her workplace in Secunda on Sunday, 29 September at about 08h20.

An unknown vehicle came in front of the complainant and blocked her way. The passenger in the front seat opened the window and pointed the woman with a firearm and ordered her to get inside the car.

Indeed, the complaint got inside the car and found two (2) African men who took her cellphone and started questioning where she was going in the morning.

The suspects accompanied her to Secunda but drove to the cemetery and started slapping her, instructing her to open the cellphone and transfer money from the Capitec account.

After forcing her to transfer the money, they also instructed her to remove the Face ID from her phone, then they stopped the car and let her go.

Embalenhle Police Station spokesperson, constable Busi Mthethwa, confirmed that a case was opened and an investigation is underway.
