Govan Mbeki Municipality’s former Executive Mayor and Deputy President of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Flora Maboa Boltman, hosted a high tea event at Graceland Casino club on Saturday, 13 May 2023.
The purpose of the event was for women to empower one another on business, investment and savings. Amongst the women who honored the invite were MEC Busi Shiba, women in mining, women in politics, CEOs, Educators and other careered women from different provinces.
MEC Busi Shiba was honored with a birthday surprise since it was her birth month and had recently celebrated her birthday.
Mrs Shiba urged other women at the event to invest in business, as most of the time when they resign, they are poor because of depending on one’s salary and by putting other individuals first.
“Through this high tea event I have learnt a lot as a person that I can do which will add to my salary, like what one of the women mentioned earlier, that down with depending on one income which awakened me so that I must depend on various income ,”said Mrs Busi Shiba, thanking the women at the high tea event including her birthday surprise.
Mrs Flora Boltman is set to visit Russia in the next two weeks. One of the attendees of the event thanked her for grooming her. She further urged her to enquire about the just energy transition.
