Women around Govan Mbaki Municipality celebrated Women’s Day on Saturday, 12 August 2023 at Endaweni Chicken Emnandi popular known as KaMntung through discussions on current issues including gender-based violence and child abuse faced by women and young girls in our country.

The event also aimed to celebrate and honour phenomenal women across the country by sharing their views and opinions about challenges faced by women.

Esteemed guest speakers including Gogo Skhotheni who is a Gobela, traditional healer, reality star, entrepreneur and life coach; Colonel Matros, station commander in Leandra; Sister Ntsiki from department of correctional services; JM Hlatswayo Attorneys and Sergeant Tsoaelo from Family Voilence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit were invited to share their stories and encourage women on how to be independent.

“Do not let your issues determine the woman you are created to be.

People tend to give up and believe that God will make a way for them every day,” said Gogo Skhotheni.

Colonel Matros further emphasized on how women should not depend on men and raise their children with love and care.

“Woman fixing another woman’s crown” is the motive behind the event and women hope to celebrate this day every day to appreciate themselves for their hard work.
