A young man lost his life at the age of 33 years after having a few drinks at a tavern on Thursday night, 24 November 2022 at about 22h30 in eMbalenhle.

It is alleged that the young man was sitting at the tavern opposite EM Motors shop.

When he left the tavern, it is alleged that he was followed and shot at the receiving gate of a retail and wholesale butchery and died on the spot of the scene.

A compliant was on duty doing his patrol duties when he received a call from the police station letting him know about gunshots at Emba Mall.

Officers from eMbalenhle Police Station responded to the incident and found the young man wearing a blue overall and boots lying outside the receiving gate of the butchery.

The man was found with one gunshot wound at the back of his head going through the left eye with no signs of life.

The alleged girlfriend arrived at the scene and identified the young man.

According to Constable Busisiwe Mthethwa from eMbalenhle Police Station, investigation is still underway and no arrests have been made at this stage.
