Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane accompanied by the MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Ms Sasekani Manzini officially handed over the Bethal Regional Hospital under Govan Mbeki Local Municipality on Tuesday, 23April 2024.
The facility has a well-equipped dental care unit, radiology, pharmacy, maternity ward, and emergency service ward.
The hospital is equipped with high-technology facilities and will provide much-needed health services to communities in, amongst others, Trichardt, Embalenhle, Kriel, Devon, Morgenzon, and Charl Cilliers.
According to the premier state-of-the art Bethal Hospital, it costs approximately above R 800 million and created 457 job opportunities, with 128 females, 329 males, and 310 young people employed.
The high-tech digital medical, well-equipped hospital is in line with the National Health Insurance (NHI) standards to assist in achieving universal health coverage for all, regardless of one’s economic or social background.
During her keynote address, Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane also mentioned that the government has ensured that more medical staff have been hired, and vacant posts will be filled in the future so that our people continue to access adequate healthcare services. The premier also urged the community to refrain from vandalizing the hospital during service delivery protests.
