Embalenhle local soccer teams participated in the soccer Easter tournament which commenced on Friday 7 April 2023 until Monday, 10 April 2023 for championship games which were played at eMbalenhle Stadium.
There were 16 local teams participating in the tournament from all over eMbalenhle and the tournament was supported by the Mayor of Govan Mbeki, Cllr Nhlakanipho Zuma, the Speaker of GMM Council, Cllr Fikile Magagamela as well as other prominent figures from within Govan Mbeki Municipality.
The tournament was a huge success and attracted many who filled up eMbalenhle stadium in support of their favorite local soccer teams.
They competed for prices, including R30 000 cash, a trophy, silver medals, and new uniform with a soccer ball for position one, R15 000 cash, silver medals, and new uniform with a soccer ball for position two, and R10 000 cash only for position three.
Prior to halftime in one of the championship games, Skhalo Samajita F.C. earned a 1:0 victory over Young Boys F.C., which led the latter to suffer defeat. Young Boys F.C. was unable to cover the score. Therefore, Young Boys F.C. was awarded position 2, and Skhalo Samajita F.C. was awarded position 1.
Argentina F.C. and Agitators F.C. competed for position three. Agitators F.C. played the game with exhausted players shortly after their previous match, which they won via penalty. However, they also managed to score 2:1 against Argentina F.C. during the game, which led to their victory and the award of position three.
