Evander SAPS hosted a sports against crime awareness at the Evander stadium on Wednesday 22 June 2022. The event was hosted by the saps social crime prevention officer as part of the youth month.
The purpose of the event was to address the youth about sports instead of indulging in drugs and alcohol as they can keep busy with sporting activities such as soccer and aerobics.
The youth was remanded of their roles in the community as they are future leaders of the country.
Two teams participated in a soccer match which were Evander youth VS Standerton youth. The match was a tight one as both teams played a draw and went to extra time where they still went on a tie, which led to the match going on penalties.
Evander youth won the match with the score of 2 – 1 against Standerton.
Standerton players received silver medals meanwhile Evander players received Gold medals and a trophy.
