A woman and her three siblings ( two brothers one sister) were allegedly shot by her husband yesterday night, 06th March 2022 before turning the gun on himself.

According police report, the horrific and  incident occurred at 20h30 in Standerton.

Police report indicates that the victims were allegedly shot by the woman’s husband.

The woman’s siblings died as a result of the shooting and her husband was also found with gunshot wounds and a firearm next to him. 

They deceased’s were certified dead on the scene. 

The woman(wife) has sustained serious injuries and is fighting for her life in hospital. 

The SAPS members from Standerton and the medical personnel were notified about the incident and upon their arrival the wife was still alive and taken to hospital. 

According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the police have opened a case with three counts of murder, attempted murder and inquest following the death of the alleged shooter. 

“Investigation also revealed that the man was a former police Constable,” said Mohlala.

Brigadier further stated that the preliminary investigation indicates that there was an argument between the man and his wife, together with the woman’s family in the drive way of the man’s residence.

” The quarrel ended badly as it resulted to a shooting, ” added Mohlala with empathy. 

The motive for the incident following the facts suggests that it could be domestic related and the matter is being investigated by the police.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned a domestic violence incident in which four people died through the barrel of a gun.

Manamela further expressed her concerns over domestic related incidents, regarding these incidents as regrettable. 

“We call on members of the society not to bottle inside but rather seek professional help as soon as possible whenever they come across hurdles in life rather than resorting to violence” commented the Manamela.
