The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has once again learnt with disappointment of another scam done in the name of GSDM as well as the former Municipal Manager, Mr Absenia Habile who was on a fixed term contract of employment with GSDM which ended in October 2022.
The district has been made aware of letters of appointment awarding projects to service providers using Mr. Habile’s name long after his service at GSDM.
The GSDM distances itself from such activity and requests the public, in particular service providers, to avoid falling prey to the scam.
All procurement activities of the institution are conducted in line with all Supply Chain Management Regulations.
No individual has the privilege of diverting from the normal procedures.
Scams often result in members of the public losing their hard-earned money and we urge the public to be vigilant and help avoid the success of such scammers.
We also plead with the public to report such unlawful activities. We request the different media houses to warn their readers and listeners of this scam.
