Imbumba Performing Arts hosted a two-day theatre festival at Johannes Stegmann Theatre in Secunda on Saturday, 24 May 2025, and Sunday, 25 May 2025.
The purpose of the 3rd annual festival was to uplift, offer a platform, and enhance the skill set of writers, directors, and actors.
It also aimed to promote and build a culture of attending the theater among new audiences.
“When I started this project in 2021, I aimed to motivate the youth and bring hope to local artists. We are trying to create a platform with opportunities for local artists to share their creativity,” said Nkosinathi Nkosi, founder and CEO of Imbumba Performing Arts.
About seventeen (17) groups honored the invitation and performed.
Villa Liza Young Start came out victorious with a cash prize of R8000.00, followed by Bokamoso Youth in Theatre for second place with R5000.00, and Innocent yet Guilty Khari Fhatane Productions for third place with R3000.00.
All participants received certificates; meanwhile, the winning teams were topped up with trophies and medals.
Nkosi and his team also took the opportunity to give out sanitary towels to young girls.
The event was graced with the presence of Action Maluleka from Mshana Movies, Samukelo Gumede from House of Zwide, and Zinhle from Imbalienhle Musical Theatre as judges.
