Kinross Police donated sanitary towels and clothes to learners at eMdibini Combined School as part of giving back to school campaign.
According to Constable Mondlane of Kinross Police, the donation comes after they visited the school a week ago, and the learners at the school were wearing casual clothes; they then noticed some of the learners needed help.
The station collected clothes, which are not new but still in good condition.
They also bought school uniforms to be donated to needy learners at the school.
“The reason we are donating sanitary towels to these learners is to prevent absenteeism, which affects the learning.
Having sanitary towels gives confidence to these children when they are on their periods,” said Constable Mondlane.
Mrs. Mahlangu, who is a clinical psychologist, was also part of the team on the day.
She taught learners at the school the importance of hygiene when they are on their periods.
Members of the crime prevention wardens and members of the SAPS from the station also took part in the program.
Mr. Ndlovu, the principal of the school, appreciated the donations and urged the police to not tire of visiting the school also on awareness campaigns they run.
