Operation Dudula held its first general assembly in Diepkloof, Soweto, on Sunday, 22 October 2023.

Operation Dudula is commonly known as an organization that wants all foreign nationals who are in the country unofficially to be deported. Established in Soweto, they have now spread to other parts of the country.

During the assembly, which was aired live on the TikTok platform, Dudula said they intend on reclaiming the township economy by promoting South African-owned businesses and spaza shops.

This comes after recent incidents where children fell ill and some died after consuming snacks allegedly bought from foreign nationals’ spaza shops.

“Foreigners have taken 90% of our South African township economy, and the state is doing nothing about it. This conference takes place at a time when half of the capable South Africans are unemployed, yet they are capable and also qualified. What is disturbing is that over 27.5 million South Africans are dependent on social grants. These are some of the points we want to address in parliament, said Zandile Dubula, the president of the organization, during the general assembly.

She further made it clear that when they start closing down foreign shops, they will make sure that no infrastructure will be destroyed; they will only make sure that illegal immigrants are taken back to their countries.

Dudula also announced that they have moved to a fully pledged political party that will prioritize women both in the organization and in parliament. The organization will be contesting the 2024 general elections.

Zandile further urged women and businesspeople to join the operation.

The organization further urged Nhlanhla Lux to stop claiming he is the founder of the organization.
