24 October 2023

Two suspects of the three who allegedly terrorised the locals of Kwamhlanga were arrested by the police and appeared at the Kwamhlanga Magistrate court on Monday 23 October 2023.

Their court appearance is in connection with three suspects who were sought by the police for having allegedly committed a string of house robberies as well as other related offences in Kwamhlanga.

In one of the shocking incidents believed to have been carried out by the trio, a teacher, Ms Rose Balise Mahlangu (58) was reportedly hijacked from her car during a house robbery, then kidnapped and sadly murdered.

The victim was found dumped next to the road, while another victim of a house robbery was shot in the leg on Tuesday, 17 October 2023 when three suspects allegedly staged a robbery.

Three house robberies were reportedly carried out in a row on that fateful evening.

The police then assembled a team of investigators that immediately launched a manhunt, which paid off as it led to the arrest of Solly Ndala (28) and Vusi Ngozo (39) as suspects.

The two were then charged in connection with various offences, which include murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and house robberies, hence their court appearance.

At this stage, police cannot rule out the possibility of adding other charges as investigations continue and more arrests are expected.

During their court appearance, the matter was postponed to Monday, 30 October 2023 for a formal bail application while the two suspects remained in custody.

The investigation is proceeding.

The management of the SAPS in Mpumalanga has welcomed the arrest of the suspects while appreciating the efforts made by the members to find the perpetrators.

Hopefully, this breakthrough will discourage vigilantism and assist in renewing public confidence in the police.

The community is further urged to assist with information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspect.
