A 23-year-old woman who was reported as missing last week was found at a tavern on Friday, 16 April 2021.

Police were informed of her whereabouts by community members who saw her at a tavern in Violet Bank near Bushbuckridge.

According to the police, the woman left her three children, aged four, five-year-old as well as a nine-month-old baby either on Friday, 09 April night or early morning of Saturday, 10 April 2021.

The woman is said to be living with her mother and her three children.

Her mother noticed that she was not there when a nine-month baby was crying from the bedroom and when she went in to check on the baby, she realized that the baby’s mother was not there.

Police published her as a missing person and the community was also involved in searching for her, hence her arrest.

She will appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 April 2021, to face the charges levelled against her.

The police management in Mpumalanga would like to thank members of the public for their valuable information that led to a breakthrough and apparent arrest of the woman who allegedly left her three children unattended.
