In support of vulnerable communities, Sasol hosted older people’s organizations on Tuesday, 31 October 2023 at Sasol Recreation Club in Kinross.
The event is in support of Older Persons Week, which is commemorated annually in South Africa to honor and pay tribute to the elderly and raise awareness about issues that affect them.
Thirteen (13) organizations honored the invitation and competed against each other in singing and modeling.
“These youngsters don’t know how to have fun and enjoy themselves without alcohol. I don’t even think 90% of them will reach 65 years,” said Jabulile Khoza.
The different organizations were required to sing one song and have contestants, both male and female, participate in traditional and western beauty pageants.
Crowned queen of traditional wear is Busisiwe Vundla from Zimeleni service centre in her IsiXhosa attire, Ompie Mahlangu from Thandanani service centre as the first princess, and Jabulile Khoza from Ratanang seniors club as the second princess.
Joseph Masango from Siyanqoba O.A.C crowned king for traditional wear in his IsiNdebele attire, Hezekiel Nkosi as the first prince, and Jabulani Mtsweni from Zimeleni service centre as the second prince.
Meanwhile, crowned queen of western wear is Hleziphi Sibande from Ratanang seniors club, Sarah Mapisa from Sakhisizwe O.A.G as the first princess, and Maria Zondo from eMbalenhle aged group.
Jabulani Nkosi from Zamelani abadala as king of western wear, Carlos Rupia from Sakhisizwe O.A.G as first prince, and Samuel Monareng from Siyanqoba O.A.C as second prince.
”Standing in front of all these elders makes me feel overwhelmed because I know that I’ve received blessings.
I hope everyone enjoyed their day, and the Sasol hopes to host more and bigger events,” said Ms Thandi Twala at the closing of the event.
All participants received a bag with a water bottle before home time.
