Sasol donated blankets, heaters, furniture, food parcels, scarves and Beanies to Sifiso sabadala Old Age Home in Leandra on Tuesday, 17 July.
Sifiso sabadala looks after the elderly and disabled people.
Old Age Home Manager, Ms Badanile Nkosi thanked Sasol for the donations. She further mentioned that the old age home also caters for the live-in elderly people who no longer have families to look after them.
Currently, the centre cannot meet the demand due to lack of space.
Mr Jabulani Nkosi from Zamelani abadala Centre urged the government to assist Sifiso sabadala with land or a place with a bigger space.
Mr Nkosi said his Centre looks after the elderly during the day, but should there be an elderly person who need
full time care, he refer them to Sifiso sabadala.
Currently, there is no old age home within Govan Mbeki Municipality that can accommodate elderly people who only rely on government grants.
There are also elderly people who are abused by their families and they need a safe place to accommodate them.
