The Kinross sewer infrastructure project has since been operational after members of the community took to the streets their grievances in an alleged interference by Cllr Rose Nkabinde in the appointing of a CLO in the project.

A new CLO has since been appointed in the project after Executive Mayor Cllr Nhlakanipho Zuma assured the community that no councillor must have any involvement in the continuation of the project.

It has only been two months since the Mayor has visited the area and they are still allegations of Cllr Rose Nkabinde’s interference in the Marikina project.

Small businesses alleges that after visitation on enquiry on when the site will appoint small businesses they are told to consult the councillor who is always unavailable.

“We are very concerned the project is ongoing and none of the small business from local has been appointed and the contractor is running the project alone.

We do not wish to disrupt the project as a community but we seek for fairness and transparency. Yes I am a business owner and I’m not saying my business should be appointed but we want to see people within our community benefit,’’ Thokoyane Mnguni said.

Seskhona Media reached out to some of the business owners in Kinross who also wish to have a slice of the pie and in their remark said, “Business compliance documents were resubmitted last week Thursday, and small business owners who did not have all the compliance documents such as CIDB certificates were requested to resubmit their documents with all the necessary documents.

Seskhona Media tried to reach the project manager and contractor with no luck.
