The Vukanini Taxi Association Women’s League celebrated their annual women’s month celebration on Wednesday, 14 August 2024 at VUKTA Taxi Rank in Secunda.

The association gathered elderly persons from eMbalenhle and welcomed them with smiles and warm hugs.

The aim of the event was to remind the elderly women that they are special and loved by the association.

The event also aimed to relieve stress, as the association believes that some elderly persons are always alone at home, which may cause a lot of stress for them.

“If your grandchildren are giving you problems back at home, you are more than welcome to visit us and report them.

It is unacceptable to see our elderly cry their lungs out because of their own grandchildren,” said Mr. Fanyana Sibanyoni.

The VUKTA Women’s League gifted the elderly women with new blankets, pairs of socks, face cloths, and more.

Mr. Sibanyoni further stated that all elderly people who are unable to maintain themselves or their families at home can apply for food parcels, which are distributed every month by the association.

The event was graced by the presence of the national chairperson of the Santaco Women’s Desk, Ms. Dudu Maphumulo, who was pleased by the VUKTA’s initiative, including elderly people.
