The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has assured the family of Ms Tryphinah Elizabeth Mngomezulu (65), that Police will thoroughly investigate the inquest case as well as circumstances that led to her untimely death without any fear of favour.

The female victim from Secunda sadly past away on Saturday, 02 March 2024 and her death was confirmed deceased by the paramedics.Subsequently, her lifeless body was discovered by her employers at a certain residential place where she was reportedly hired as a Domestic Worker.

According to information, the Police as well as emergency service personnel in Secunda received a call about the incident from the woman’s employers.

It was during this time when the Emergency team arrived at the scene and declared that Ms Mngomezulu was no more.An inquest case is been investigated by a team of experts in the investigation field, under the leadership of the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, to probe this incident.

The team has so far managed to make some progress, one being the confiscation of a CCTV footage as part of the probe.

Police would like to refute suggestions that there was load shedding during the time of the incident.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has already been contacted and from the details received by the investigators, the concerned dogs which allegedly attacked and killed the woman were put down on Sunday, 03 March 2024.

Preliminary investigation by the Police suggests that Ms Mngomezulu was allegedly attacked by about six dogs at the time when her employers were not at home however the probe is still ongoing and nothing has been concluded.

Therefore, Police urge anyone who might have crucial information that may in anyway assist in the investigation not to keep that information but encouraged to bring forth such valuable details by either contacting the Police in Secunda or call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111. Alternatively, members of the public can send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

“There is no way that we can allow a situation to be influenced and be misdirected from the truth hence the need for an investigation to be conducted. The investigation should be objective so that the truth of what has transpired is made known. We plead with the family as well as members of the public to allow a space for the Investigation team to do their work diligently and not compromise the integrity of this investigation, ” said the General.
