Concerned Kinross residents accused GMM of committing daylight robbery.
“GMM failed to remove domestic refuse for four weeks, but our statements came showing refuse amount,” said a small group of residents from Thistle Grove who further raised dissatisfaction on their ward councillor, Ms Rose Nkabinde.
They blamed Cllr Nkabinde and MMC for Technical Services, Cllr Dan Nhlapo for not communicating with them.
“How do these two councillors who are put in power by the people sleep at night knowing very well there is crisis in their municipality, but fails to call a meeting and talk to the people,” said Mr Nkosi.
The problem in Kinross does not end with rubbish removals only.
Learners were also sent home early because of no water in Kinross.
The municipality was also slammed for not sending water tankers to schools to ensure non disturbance of classes.
GMM Spokesperson, Mr Bheki Kubheka acknowledged that they have a crisis with rubbish removal.
He said there are constant breakdowns of refuse removal trucks.
Mr Kubheka added that only 8 trucks out of 22 are operational and the catch up becomes impossible.
The municipality was also said to be in the process of buying three more trucks.
However, Mr Kubheka could not respond on the question of what should happen with the money showing on statements for job not done.
