Local author, entrepreneur, community leader and disability advocate Lucky Skhosana celebrated his 36th birthday in a special way with the official launch of his second inspirational book, Rising Beyond Limits, in Secunda on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
Born with cerebral palsy, Skhosana has faced numerous challenges throughout his life. However, he has consistently transformed those challenges into opportunities to inspire and empower others.
His latest book, Rising Beyond Limits, reflects his journey of courage, faith, resilience, and determination, while highlighting his refusal to allow his circumstances to define his future.
“One thing about my brother: when he is dedicated to something, it will surely be successful. He does not look down on himself in any way,” said Phumzile Skhosana, Lucky’s younger sister.
The book also takes readers through Skhosana’s personal healing journey, with emotional chapters that detail some of the experiences that have shaped his life.
Guests attending the launch described Skhosana as a dedicated, loving, and God-fearing person who continues to make a positive impact on those around him.
“We call each other millionaires because we both believe in each other and know that one day we will not only make money, but also change and positively impact people’s lives,” said Lindiwe Ndimande from a disability centre in Bethal.
More than an autobiography, Rising Beyond Limits carries a message of hope for anyone who has ever felt that their circumstances were standing between them and their dreams.
For Skhosana, the book launch was also an opportunity to celebrate persons with disabilities and demonstrate that disability does not prevent people from becoming authors, entrepreneurs, leaders and active contributors to society.
“Never let your limitations become your identity. Keep rising beyond every limit,” said Skhosana.
As he celebrates this milestone, Skhosana hopes that Rising Beyond Limits will inspire young people, persons with disabilities and communities across Mpumalanga and beyond to believe that their circumstances do not have to determine their future.
His story is not simply about overcoming limitations — it is about rising beyond them.
