Sasolia Primary School learners scooped trophies and certificates at the Provincial OR Tambo Maths, Science
and Technology (MST) Competition.
The competition was held at Machadosdorp on Saturday, 25 August.
Andile Kaledi took position 1 in science, Angel Makgetha got position 2 in mathematics, Sizakele Gubula claimed
position 2 in science and position 3 in mathematics, while Lerato Mabota also managed to get position 8 with
mathematics.
When asked how he managed to get position 1, Andile Kaledi said, “I studied the whole textbook because I wanted to
get first position and a trophy.”
“Our teacher first joked with us and said Kaledi did not make it.
“Kaledi said he will never enter the competition again,” said one of the learners.
Kaledi narrated that when the teachers finally tell him the truth that he got the first position, he nearly fainted with
excitement.
“My mom bought me a smartphone and she was excited,” concluded Kaledi.
Learners were pampered with ice creams, lunch boxes, and an R100 each by their school to congratulate them.
“Our teacher also receives a certificate of attendance,” Learners concluded.
