Nokuthula Mathebula (31), living with two minor children at Ext 2, Ward 4 in eMbalenhle, pleads for assistance to rebuild her home.
Her plea came after they lost everything, including the lives of her brother and niece, during a tragic house fire incident that occurred in November 2021.
The cause of the fire was unknown, but it started in her brother’s bedroom.
Her only sister, whom she was left with, passed on the following year due to illness.
According to Mathebula, the late Cllr Simphiwe Sindelo helped her with donations and also reported the incident.
“The councillor before the current one for Ward 4 reported the issue but was told that it was not the municipality’s disaster, so they cannot help me,” said Mathebula.
Mathebula further stated that Cllr Duma, who is currently the Ward 4 councillor, visited her home, but there was no feedback from him.
“I am starting to be depressed because this environment is unbearable, especially when I think of the days I lost my siblings. All I am asking for is assistance to make this place a better home,” she said.
