Three police constables, Lucky Shabangu, Musa Hlanzi, and Ina Mahlangu, who are stationed in eMbalenhle, appeared before the Evander Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 05 September 2025, for their bail judgment
There was no electricity in the court for recording; however, the court proceeded in what they called old style (longhand)
According to the court, the reason is that the bail application is an urgent request, and the fact that there is no electricity should not prejudice the three suspects.
The three accused led evidence in the form of an affidavit during their bail application.
State led evidence of the investigation officer from IPID, who gave evidence from witnesses who were at the crime scene.
The court found that the three accused proved before the court that there are exceptional circumstances which, in the interest of justice, permit them to be released on bail.
The court has taken note that the matter has not been finalised.
Matter has been postponed to 8 October 2025 for further investigation
The three were released on R1000.00 bail each.
